  NKMZ has successfully performed updating of 320/150-mm combined wire rod mill at Moldova Steel Plant. The equipment designed and manufactured enabled to realize two-strand rolling technology. As a consequence, the annual mill production of bar stock and wire rod has increased from 500 ths. t to 700 ths. t.


320/150-mm wire rod mill is intended to produce:

320/150-mm wire rod mill equipment layout


   The mill includes the following equipment:

 -heating furnace with charging and heated blank delivery areas;
  -600x820- and 440x710-mm (6pcs.) roughing mill train with horizontal and vertical arrangement of rolls (G-B);
  -440x710- and 340-500-mm (Ã-Â) intermediate mill train;
  -340-500-mm (6 pcs.) (Ã-Â) finishing mill train;
  -10-stand wire finishing block;
  -equipment for wire rod finishing for on-line heat treatment, coil forming, weighing and strapping;
  -coiler line equipment;
  -small section cooling bed equipment for on-line rolled products thermal strengthening, cutting for the cooling bed length, rod air cooling, cutting-to-length, bundles formation;
  -hydraulic, pneumatic and lubrication equipment;
  -electric drive and automation system.


   The mill equipment is arranged in two parallel bays with the width of 24 m and 30 m, some equipment for finished products delivery as well as the stocks are located in the third bay with the width of 36 m.
